University of Missouri alumnus Joseph Bartzel has been named one of 21 Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellows for 2018 by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
Joe is a 2001 MU graduate in philosophy, now a Religious studies Ph.D. candidate at Indiana University Bloomington, completing his dissertation, titled From Riot to Reconciliation: The Ferguson Commission and the Future of St. Louis. His dissertation envisions the collective retelling of history as a means to racial reconciliation.
