The Department would like to congratulate Dr. Peter Vallentyne on being a 2019 Faculty-Alumni Award recipient! This award is granted by the Mizzou Alumni Association.
Dr. Vallentyne has been a Florence G. Kline Professor of Philosophy since 2003. He writes on issues of liberty and equality in the theory of justice and, more recently on enforcement rights (rights to protect primary rights). His groundbreaking work has clarified the foundations of self-ownership and equal opportunity for the theory of justice. He has published nine anthologies and more than 100 articles. He is nationally ranked as one of the most often cited researchers in the humanities.
The awards began in 1968 to recognize the achievements of faculty and alumni through their work as teachers, administrators and researchers. To be nominated, the nominator must submit a personal letter and at most five additional letters in support of the nominee.
