Departmental Awards

Scott T. Davey Memorial Prize for Excellence in MA Research: This award, in memory of graduate student Scott T. Davey (1976-2009), is normally given each year to the graduate student who writes the best MA paper or MA thesis submitted during the twelve months ending June 30th. A prize of $100 is associated with this award.

Past winners: Fernando Alvear (2020), Beth Barker and Cody Porter (co-winners, 2018), Alek Willsey (2017), Tian Zhang (2016), Keith Harris (2015), Seokman Kang (2014), Jon Burmeister and Katy Shorey (co-winners, 2013), Kenny Shields (2012), Leo Yan (2011).

The Bill Bondeson Prize for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching: This award is normally given each year to the graduate student with the strongest record of teaching for the twelve months ending June 30th who satisfies the following conditions: (1) he/she has just completed the third, fourth, or fifth year, (2) he/she has not won the prize before, and (3) he/she has not accepted a full-time job offer elsewhere. A prize of $200 is associated with this award.
