The Department of Philosophy at MU is an excellent place for undergraduates to study philosophy, whether they are pursuing BA or BS degrees (or a minor) in philosophy or are seeking to fulfill the Humanities and Fine Arts portion of MU’s general education requirements.
The Department offers an unusually wide range of undergraduate courses—from introductory courses at the 1000- and 2000-levels, through 3000-level courses on major thinkers in the history of philosophy, to specialized 4000-level courses on such topics as the theory of knowledge and the philosophy of religion.
All our courses at the 3000- and 4000-levels are taught by members of our outstanding faculty; courses at the 1000- and 2000-level are taught by a mixture of faculty members and our highly committed graduate teaching assistants.
Please explore this section of the Department’s website to learn more about studying philosophy as an undergraduate at MU.
